The importance of the findings is relevant to understand the intention of people, travelling to dark tourism sites and not to condemn them for their special interest. The definition development of dark tourism is important to gain more knowledge in this field Marcel (2003) describes dark tourism as ‘the dirty little secret of the tourism industry’. According to Stone (2006, p. 146) â€Å"dark tourism may be referred to as the act of travel to sites associated with death, suffering and the seemingly macabre.† This statement was emphasized by Tarlow (2005, p. 48) when he suggested that â€Å"visitiation to places where tragedies or historically noteworthy death has occurred and that continued to impact our lives.† The term â€Å"dark tourism† is also known as Thanatourism which is descended from the demon Thanatos, a negligible character in the greek mythology, who epitomised death. The term dark tourism has always been present in history meaning that also in early times people had the demand to pilgrim to place where death happened. One of the first tourists in history have been the pilgrimages who travelled to places where death caused though religious power.
