REX at Random Hall

REX at Random Hall Pre-frosh have descended into campus, making the rest of us feel very very old. They will spend the next several days learning about MIT, departments, resources and culture. It turns out where you live can strongly influence what slice of the Institutes culture you experience, especially with the dormitories being so self-selecting. You get to choose where you live. I chose Random Hall, a decision Ive never regretted. MITs REX (Residence Exploration) Program is a way for each incoming freshman to figure out where they belong. Breathe easy knowing your decisions are not binding, but you do wanna think about them quite seriously, and give each living groupfrom the dorms to the FSILGs (Fraternities, Sororities and Independent Living Groups)a decent attempt at trying to understand what living there would be like. I spent the next week missing my family like crazy, and I spent it waking up to the smell of food from surrounding restaurants that always inhabits the streets of Cambridge in the morning, and I spent it wandering slow bridge loops with Mika B. ‘14 and David D.
